I'm taking Leadership in Public Adminstration this semester. One of the things we keep coming back to is the idea of what role does morality play in leadership. If you take the idea suggesteted in that famous bood The Prince (I can't remember how to spell Machivelian I'm sure that's horribly misspelled). Anyways if you take that way of thinking a true leader can't be overly moral. The reason being is they may have to do unethical or inmoral things for the greater good. Basically put, a moral man/woman can't do the necessary things that a true leader has to do. The other argument is that by definition a leader doesn't have to have moral ends to be considered a great leader. Hitler was a horribly evil man, however when it came to the ability to lead he was a great leader.

On the other side of the coin,what happens to the society or group when someone without morals takes controls. Is society then destined to become amoral itself. I just thought this was an interesting question we're discussing. Feel free to weigh in on it.

Well I had an interview this morning and got the job. The drawbacks are the pay isn't as great as I would like. But the pluses are great. They are extremly flexible about the baby, I get my own little office and it's fairly low stress. Now I have to find daycare asap.

If my last post seemed harsh. It's just something like this happens and all I can think about what is wrong with the World. This isn't the World I want my child to grow up in, and I don't know how to fix it. *sigh*

All I know is I'm so sorry for all those in London, and am praying for you all.

What's happened in London is beyond alwful. However, I think it's time for Americans to a look at the World as whole. I guess someone said something on their LJ that got me thinking how blind we can be to the rest of the World. Since 9/11 there have been constant terrorist attacks in Middle Eastern countries that supported us. There has been a genocide in the Suddan. Ethopia and neighboring countries are at the point of great desperation. Violence is the Congo. Columbia has had enroumous drug and crime related violence. Russia has been dealing with the Chechians (sp?), who carried out one the worst terroist attacks since 9/11. Spain has been dealing with terrorist attacks from the Basque (sp?) separtist movement. The World, folks, is messed up. We need to be aware of it whether it directly affects us or not. Sorry...ranting shall end.

Wow...so I've been watching this on the news. My heart truely goes out to all there. Violence is everywhere it would seem *sigh*. Yup this is a wonderful World to raise a child in.

So everyone who reads this post say a prayer or a whatever you may do for those in London, and those everywhere in the World affected by violence.

I was watching a news story on ABC Primetime Live. They were covering a murder that happened 20 some years ago and just got solved. The story took place in Olathe. At the end of the story they described it as a small town on the Kansas Prairie. For the record Olathe has a population of around 120,000 and is about 20 from downtown KC. Gotta love the media.
